    100k Gameplays on Crazy Games

Puckit! is making waves with nearly 100,000 gameplays and an impressive rating of 8.8/10! In this post, I share insights about launching on Crazy Games, including key statistics and details on how Puckit! has performed so far.

    Puckit! Nears 100K Gameplays!

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about my game, Puckit!. With almost 100,000 gameplays and a solid rating of 8.8/10! 🎉

    Join the Fun!

Play Puckit! now and show your support with a thumbs up 👍 and a heart ❤️. It really means a lot to me.

The Ups and Downs of Launching a Game

The first few days were tough. I checked the game page constantly, feeling excited with every like and worried about each dislike. At one point, the rating was around 8.0/10, which had me on edge.

Then, out of nowhere, the rating jumped to 8.9! When I hit 1,000 votes, I realized I needed to stop stressing over every little number. Now, I just check once a day to keep my focus. It's fun to watch it change, but it's better to look only once a day, or you'll end up stressed and won't be able to continue working on your game.

Getting over a 9.0 rating is important because it increases our chances of getting the "top rated" label, which helps more people discover the game.

A Deep Dive into Puckit!'s Performance

I reached out to Crazy Games before writing this post, and I can't disclose revenue detail. I'm excited to share other insightful statistics about Puckit!

    A Tale of Two Platforms

I launched Puckit! on both Poki and Crazy Games simultaneously, but the results were quite different. Poki decided not to include the game on their platform due to lower performance.

    • Poki: Average gameplay duration of 2 minutes and 5 seconds
    • Crazy Games: Average gameplay duration of 4 minutes and 28 seconds

It's fun, but puzzling as to why these numbers differ from one platform to another. Factors such as tags, keywords, game title, description, and thumbnail can influence a game's success. Additionally, each platform attracts users from various demographics and age groups.

    Key Metrics to Watch

    1. Click-Through Rate (CTR): This metric, representing the ratio of ad clicks to impressions, is vital. While I lack CTR data for Crazy Games, Poki reported a low CTR for Puckit!. Platforms use this to determine game promotion, so I'm planning to revamp the thumbnail for another shot at Poki.
    2. Gameplay Conversions and Loading Time: We aim for high conversions and low loading times. Currently, Puckit!'s average load time is 2 seconds – not bad, but improvable. I'm considering optimizing asset file sizes and implementing on-demand loading to enhance this.
    3. Gameplay Conversion Ratio: On Crazy Games, this is the percentage of plays lasting at least 1 minute compared to 'Play Now' button clicks. Puckit!'s current ratio is 73%. By reducing initial loading time and streamlining the gameplay start, I hope to increase the ratio and retain more early-stage players.

    The Crazy Games Experience

    What I Appreciate

Crazy Games believes the players are correct, and we cannot buy priority placements on their home page for extra exposure. I like this ideology, because the competition is fair. Not only that, but Crazy Games gives new games a chance to shine, and feature them for 48 hours.

Here's a graph from my game displaying the number of gameplays over a 2 week period

    blog post image

From November 6 to 8, the game peaked at almost 23,000 plays in a single day. The game also earned the "hot" label, further boosting visibility. Since November 10, we've maintained an average of 2,500 daily plays. However, I anticipate a gradual decline unless I introduce fresh updates.

    Areas for Improvement

Crazy Games is good at sharing statistics, and their dashboard is informative. It’s simple and straight forward to get paid as well. However, they could be more transparent about the revenue share split with developers. There are several factors that determine how much you get from the total revenue from your game. Maybe that’s a reason why they aren’t open about the «publisher to developer» ratio. Is it 50/50? Or something else? I don’t know. This lack of clarity is an aspect I find less appealing. You can read more details about it in their terms and conditions.

    What’s Next for Puckit!?

Looking ahead, I'm brainstorming ways to keep players engaged longer and improve the CTR. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Christmas is approaching, and I’m working on adding a winter adventure update for the festive season. This update will feature 24 new levels, all set in a charming winter theme.

I’ll keep you updated, and remember to give Puckit! a try!
